The IPod got down into the V's during my morning bike ride today (first of '07). I knew the U's were strong, but I forgot what the V's had to offer. Wow, what a surprise. First, an insane Viola Lee Blues from:

and next, a beautiful Visions of Johanna from:

Twenty seven minutes separated by twenty seven years.

Great stuff, take a listen.

hey, Sugaree, thanks! that viola is just insane, love it every time i hear it; will check out the Visions, as i haven't heard this song but twice or thrice

edit: okay, that Visions was pretty sweet, indeed; admittedly, i don't venture all that much beyond '90, or even in the several years prior, but there ARE some good shows, or segments of shows, and that's a fact, jack; thanks for the pointer

No kidding, that Viola Lee is sweet!

Visions of Johanna is a great song. I'm always amazed when they can get through a Dylan song. He is a poet and his songs don't lack for words, albeit well thought and placed verse.

I just started the link from above (Jack Straw error) - but will have to stop it in favor of the Visions - I'm guessing it's the Chicago one? - amazing to me that Jer nails the whole thing.

hmmm, for some reason I thought it was only played once in '95. Now I see a bunch when I do a search. Anybody know of a better version than the one I listed?

that was so sweet - it can't get better. deadlists shows 2 in 86 and 6 in 95 - does that mean 99% certain that is it? in other words does anyone know if they have everything?

I know he nails the 7/8 one at Soldier field but the first one of the year that u list is a hair better - imo.

That was so good - it makes u scratch your head - he can nail that then blow So Many Roads the day b4 or after - I wonder if he used the prompter when he knew he had to (long song like Visions that he never played) but ignored it when he butchered half the Bertha's, Wharfs, Altheas over the last couple years.

Anyway did I say sweet - thanks for the link and EVERYBODY that reads this should crank that Visions out right now as loud as it gets - it is so good it's scary.
